Extra Long Curtain Pole Buyers Guide
If it’s proving difficult to find extra long curtain poles for your fabulous, wide windows then Fendow may have just what you have been searching for. Curtain poles in wood or metal up to 360cm (12ft) are fairly easy to find on the High Street, but if you need to cover a larger width then you may need some advice and guidance.
Curtain Poles up to 6m
Fendow has perfect solutions for longer length poles up to 600cm in both metal and wood, including over wide windows, bifold doors and patio doors.
There are many ranges to choose from which have one piece poles up to 240cm or 300cm, which, with a centre joiner, makes it possible to offer sizes up to 480cm and 600cm and these are perfect for the ‘standard’ requirements of a pair of curtains, drawing to the centre.
These include the stunning Lunar 28mm and Strand 35mm contemporary ranges by Jones Interiors, and the hugely popular Neo 28mm and 35mm ranges by Rolls, all of which include a choice of metal or real oak curtain poles with a fantastic range of finial choices and an option to buy with wall fix or ceiling fix brackets.
Galleria by Rolls in 35mm and 50mm (up to 480cm) is another stunning range, which has rather attractive and perhaps more traditional lateral brackets for maximum strength and good looks.
In stained or painted wood there are the beautiful handcrafted ranges of curtain poles by Jones Interiors – 40mm Hardwick, 40mm Seychelles, 50mm Florentine, 50mm Estate, 50mm Oakham and 63mm Florentine Grande. And do take a look at 45mm Modern Country and 55mm Museum by Rolls, both of which can be cut to the size you require at no additional cost.
Even longer lengths of curtain poles covered!
The Jones Lunar 28mm range and Jones Strand 35mm ranges for example, offers all the components to make easy work of covering longer lengths. If hanging eyelet curtains the maximum size is 600cm in matt nickel and chrome, but for curtains with heading tape even longer lengths can be covered using multiple pole lengths of your choice supported by stylish passing brackets, and using a combination of standard and passing rings.
So often we find that the products offered by Jones Interiors provide solutions to more challenging requirements. Most of their ranges are supplied either by companies such as Fendow, or through interior designers. Over the years so many customers have told us how very happy they are with the quality and they are generally delighted and relieved that they have finally found such great looking curtain poles which meets their needs.
Good to know…
- When wall space is limited, consider Jones Lunar 28mm and Rolls Neo 28mm poles as these have the option to choose their neat cylinder brackets which take up only 51mm height (backplate measurement).
- Passing brackets can be used to enable a really neat and effective one way draw option.
- Although the industry standard is 1 ring per 10cm of curtain pole, we would recommend adding a few more rings – 1 extra ring per 30cm of pole – for smoother running and neat pleats, particularly on those long curtain poles.
- 28mm/35mm/40mm curtain poles work really well and look great in most rooms. Large or wide rooms, or high ceilings, can easily take wider diameter poles (45mm and above) and look stunning.
Helpful Tips
I can’t find the exact curtain pole size which I need?
Simply order the next size up from what you require. Also remember to add at least an extra 30cm beyond the window size.
How to cut a metal curtain pole?
All our standard metal curtain poles can all be cut down to your required size with a hacksaw. We suggest wrapping masking tape around the metal rods where you need to cut to help mark your cut on the shiny pole and it as protects your pole if you slip with the hacksaw. The finials cover the ends you have cut down so don’t worry too much about your cuts. If your curtain pole comes in two pieces just make sure you cut equal amounts off both poles!
How to clean a metal curtain pole?
We suggest cleaning your metal curtain pole and fittings with white spirit and lubricating with furniture polish on a soft cloth, this will remove any dirt and assist your rings or eyelet curtains to slide more easily.
